Renate's Medical and Recovery Fund

My name is Eileen Williamson, Renate and I have been friends for 40+ years. Renate is a beautiful, full of life, generous, charismatic, loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, & friend. She’s a classy woman whose sense of style is radiant and her sage words are memorable. Life without her is unimaginable.

Renate woke up in excruciating pain; this pain became more severe within a couple of hours. She was rushed to the Emergency Room. The doctors ran several tests as well as X-rays that showed very questionable spots on her spine. They suspected cancer, admitted her into the hospital to complete a MRI. The MRI results confirmed THE “C” WORD, and she was diagnosed with an advanced stage of Multiple Myeloma cancer.

The cancer has spread up and down her spine. This makes it very difficult to maintain normal every day movement. The only solutions available to prolong her life are the never-ending meds, chemotherapy and radiation followed by a Stem Cell Transplant once the cancer goes into remission~along with the power of prayer. Despite this ill-fated news, Renate’s spirits have remained high with humbling gratitude in hearing about all the comments left for her on face book, phone calls, visits and cards received. Her displaying this positivism is a beacon of hope for her family. She is a true inspiration to us all.

At 67 years old, Renate—who overall was healthy— was advised to begin chemotherapy, which she started in January. Chemotherapy is a mean drug with even worse side effects! Her frequent treatments along with the physical pain she experiences on a daily basis, loss of appetite and nausea to list a few is beginning to take a toll on her quality of life.

Since she has always been a great support for helping people throughout her life, she would never herself ask for help, that's why we hoped that many of you, her family, friends/friends of friends, Co workers etc.will come together to support Renate through this difficult time so that she can focus her energy on getting healthy. Every little bit helps and no amount is too small when it’s coming from the heart.

She will be unable to work to support everything she needs medically or financially. Although she currently has health insurance, it only covers a percentage of the costs she will endure...

Chemotherapy: $1000 - $2000 weekly

X-rays /MRI: $200 - $1000

Bone-density scans: $130 -$200

Medications/Supplements: Hundreds of dollars monthly

In-Home personal care: $150 - $200 weekly

Stem Cell Transplant: $200,000 or more

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read Renate’s story. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated; your kindness certainly does not go unnoticed. We are also asking that you take advantage of the power of social media and share this page, as far as it will reach. Not only will you be aiding Renate, but also you are helping to spread awareness of (MM) Multiple Myeloma and the population it effects. Thank you

Please help us reach this goal - for her to receive the best treatment that can help us prolong her life.

Thank you for your generosity and your prayers!
