Minnie's Operation

Thursday morning started just like any other day. School for the kids, let the animals out to potty, feed them and then back outside to potty. At 10am Bailey noticed that Minnie could not walk.  She was dragging her hind legs. We had no idea what could have caused this to happen. Minnie is only 5 years old. I took her to the vet immediately where an exam and x-rays were taken. Without a CT scan, which can only be done at NC State Vet Hospital, they couldn't tell me exactly what has caused this to happen.  Minnie was placed on steroids and 2 different meds to help protect her stomach from bleeding.

We are at the week mark and the steroids aren't improving her way of life. There was some improvement for about 2 days and then it took a turn for the worst. She is at the point of refusing water but she is eating soft food  (I do have to hand feed her). I have to give her water via a syringe.  Since the paralysis, I have had to express her bladder throughout the day as well as assist her other bathroom needs. She was able to sit using her front legs to hold her, however she is no longer able to do so.

I am asking for help through gofundme as I am not financially able to pay for her vet bills.  I do have a Care Credit card and I am using the small amount I have available on there for her.  I am asking for help because I cannot bare the thought of losing my baby. Any donation amount is helpful and much appreciated. I have prayed and prayed that things will turn around for her. Due to Covid, a referral to State is anywhere from 1-6 months, depending. We were told to show up tomorrow as an emergency as we know Minnie won't last another month without further help. I put off asking for help in hopes that she would miraculously recover but unfortunately that isn't the case.  Now I'm racing against the clock to ask for funds from my family and friends. She will need a CT scan for them to make an assessment.  The next step is surgery.

I cannot express how much Minnie means to my family.  She is not just a pet to us.  She is one of my children.  She has proven to calm me in various situations when my anxiety acts up. She is our protector. She is our comforter. She brings so much laughter and joy to our family.  She's amazing. Minnie is more like a cat than a dog. She'd sleep all day and stay under a blanket if it were up to her. I have only had her for 5 short years.  She is just a baby.  We are all completely heartbroken over this. So many tears have been shed. It was sudden, it is still a shock and I don't know where else to turn. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for any donation you are able to give. Please share with any of your friends and/or family that you think would be interested in helping.  This is already such a hard time of year for my family as it is (we lost Killian in November), I can't imagine adding this to the list.

(**If you donate and we aren't able to complete the surgery for Minnie, I will have gofundme refund the donations made. This gofundme is being set up for Minnie's CT scan and surgery ONLY**)
