Mimi Wiencke's Road to Sochi 2014

Hi, my name is Madeline (Mimi) Wiencke. I am currently the number one ranked female snowboard racer in the country, a full time US World Cup athlete, and the current front runner to qualify for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia in the women's snowboard events of Parallel Giant Slalom (PGS) and Parallel Slalom (PSL). Without any financial support from my government or national organization, I have had to work very hard to get to where I am today, and there is still a lot of work ahead of me if I hope to qualify for a trip to Sochi next winter!
For the past few summers, I have worked multiple jobs and up to 70 hours per week in order to finance my efforts towards achieving my Olympic dream. And, thankfully, I have had an incredibly supportive mother along the way, who has put everything she has, over many years, into helping me reach my goals. However, the years of training and competition have added up financially, and our funds have been completely depleted. I am now in need of ALL the support I can get over the next eight months leading up to February, 2014. This is why I am asking for your help!
I have set a goal to raise $10,000 in private donations by November, however that is only a third of the estimated costs of this journey. Between equipment, summer training, coaching, and travel fees, the total estimated cost of next season will be around $30,000. I am asking for your financial support, whether it be a $1 or $10,000 (no amount is too small!), to help with the expenses that summer training and the coming season will bring. I am extremely grateful to all who have supported me in the past and to those who are choosing to support me now. This is the dream of my lifetime, and I can promise that, if I qualify, every single one of you will be on my mind as I walk into that Olympic Stadium come February!
