Our friend and colleague, Milt Stowe is facing a challenging yet winnable fight against Cancer. He has Amyloidsis.
Amyloidosis is a group of diseases in which abnormal protein, known as amyloid fibrils, builds up in tissue. Symptoms depend on the type and are often variable.They may include diarrhea, weight loss, feeling tired, enlargement of the tongue, bleeding, numbness, feeling faint with standing, swelling of the legs, or enlargement of the spleen.
In Milt's case it is far worse. The cancer is in his bones and the resulting fibroids have attacked and virtually destroyed his heart. Milt is presently at UCLA Medical Center awaiting a new heart. He is on the top of the list.
After he recovers from the heart transplant he will need to recuperate for a couple months in an apartment near the hospital. After that recuperation time when his heart is strong enough, he will then undergo chemotherapy to eradicate the cancer and have a bone marrow transplant.
Milt and his wife (Lori) will have to have a location near the hospital. They will be in Los Angeles for 4 to 5 months. This will be very expensive. Please help in any way you can. Thank you and may God bless you and your family as He watches over and heals Milt.
