Milton House Fire - Single Dad of 3

Donation protected
I am writing not for myself but for our Good Neighbor and Friend Rob Giles and his children.

On Monday 15th January (a week ago today) we were awoken at 4.15am in the morning by the sound of loud banging. We opened the blinds to be confronted with a scene of absolute devastation. Rob's Vehicle and his 16-year-old Daughter Jennifer’s' vehicles were both engulfed in flames. Fire service personnel were on the scene trying to knock down the fires which had spread to the garage. We could not see our neighbors and feared the worst. To our relief the family were all rescued before the fire took hold. Sadly, the fire destroyed their beautiful home. The family spent the next few days with neighbors and friends as the investigations took place and the insurance adjusters came in to do their investigations. The roof collapsed in on the top floor and Rob advises that the Insurance company now tells him the house will take well over a year to be torn down and rebuilt.  The whole community is in shock and numerous requests have come in to us for offers to help the family. Rob is a single parent taking care of his 3 kids, 2 of which were in the home at the time of the fire.

I am writing to ask for your help for Rob and his family, so they can get back to their lives and back into the community that is emptier without them.

Every parent of a child or Loved one would be hugging their kids if they knew how quickly this fire took hold and how quickly this family could have perished. But for a vigilant Fireman from the Milton FD returning from a call in the early hours who called in the fire, this family would have had little chance of escaping this blaze. It was ferocious.

As for Rob and his Kids, they are now living with a family member and have lost literally everything in their home, escaping only with the clothes on their backs. Many people in the community want to help but are not sure how best to......which is why we are reaching out to you all.

The 2 girls aged 16 and 11 are heartbroken as some of their pets perished in the fire. The upside was that the Firemen managed to rescue the Dog, one Cat and a rabbit.... all of whom went to a neighbor’s home for refuge after the fire.

Any donation is welcome, and no donation is too small. Every cent raised will be presented to Rob and his family after the closing date. You would be giving life and normality back to Rob and his family, Patrick (Who was at college when the fire happened), Jennifer and Jessica. We Love the family very much and through this appeal want to demonstrate what community really stands for.

Rob has been coaching kids’ baseball in the area for many years and does so with a smile and without thought for anyone but the kids. He is big in stature with a heart to match and would be too proud to reach out himself to ask for help.

Your donations would help give this family a much-needed boost and a start on the path to getting their lives back.
