Milo's New Knees
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Matt, and I'm fundraising for my dog, Milo, who needs surgery to repair both of his Cranial Cruciate Liagments(CCL) in his knees at an estimated $9000-11,000.
I'm rarely one to ask for help, especially monetarily. We've had friends and family asking for ways to donate and help, so figured we'd set this up. In no way do I expect people to fund his whole surgery, but any help is whole heartedly appreciated.
A few days before Christmas, Milo was out for a walk with my brother in the neighborhood. He'd stopped to smell around a mailbox, and while turning to run to continue the walk, he pulled up whimpering, unable to put any weight on his left back leg. My brother carried him a half mile home, and we got him in to his vet the next day.
On the first visit, the vet couldn't 100% confirm a full CCL tear, so we started treating it with the hope that it could be rehabbed. After a month of medication, lazer treatments, and lowered activity, it seemed like Milo was making progress. He regained a small amount of mobility and strength in the leg; enough so he was slowly walking around the yard on all four legs.
Two weeks ago, on 1/21/24, we were coming inside for the night after a bathroom break. Milo stepped up the one stair landing inside our apartment entryway, and immediately started whimpering and holding up his back right leg. Unable to put weight on the newly injured leg, we feared he had torn his second CCL.
A visit to our vet confirmed the original full tear in his left leg, requiring surgery, with a suspected full tear in his right leg as well. After meeting with a specialist at WVRC in Racine, we confirmed a full tear in both legs on 1/31/24.
Surgery for both knees is scheduled for 2/8/24, with an estimated 4 months for full recovery. With the full $11,000 estimate due at time of surgery dropoff, any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and charity!
