Milo - Toy Cavoodle attacked by Aggressive Dog

Our darling Milo has been involved in a terrible accident. On Sunday, the 13th of November, Milo’s owner Hayley took him out for an adventure to the dog beach at the Spit, Gold Coast. Whilst there, they encountered another dog. This particular dog breed is known for being aggressive unless adequately trained. The owners of this dog had the full knowledge that their pet did not like the company of other dogs. Yet they decided to take this dog beach in the middle of the day without a muzzle.

This dog had the strength and capability to break free from the lead and attack Milo. Milo was also on the lead at the time and was lifted in the air to avoid the attack, resulting in his back leg being mauled. He has an 8cm long open wound with the skin torn away from the muscle and several punctures around the area. The owners of the dog that attacked Milo has just moved to Australia and have very little money to compensate for their mistake. We will be following this situation up privately.

Milo has since come out of surgery, but it is nowhere near over. He is being heavily monitored over the next few days as there is still a significant risk of infection to the abdomen. We hope that Milo is strong enough to make it through the next few days. Even if everything goes well over the next couple of days, he will never be able to walk correctly again. When he comes home, he will have to be caged for the next few weeks with limited movement and on antibiotics and painkillers.

As I’m sure you can imagine, this is the definition of an unexpected expense and could cost up to $10,000 + with aftercare. We would appreciate all the help we can get.
