Milner Drive Flood Relief

Donation protected
On Sunday, March 28, 2021 at around 1am, the Sevenmile Creek creek swelled its banks and flooded our precious street.

Neighbors barely escaped, carrying their babies and pets on their shoulders and wading through waist high water. In a matter of minutes the creek turned from something to keep an eye on to a deadly threat. We had a couple pulled from their window by rescue workers and a neighbor swept away trying to help a police officer- later to be saved after clinging to a tree for an hour. Neighbors evacuated elderly residents and those with homes on higher ground took in as many as they could. We had many close calls, and we are so grateful.

We are a street of neighbors who love and support each other.  Already people are going door to door with food and supplies, but the damage is wide spread and devastating. Some are young families who have insurance but not enough to cover something of this scale.

Those of us who were around in the 2010 flood can testify that, at least on Milner Drive, this is worse. It was sudden and powerful and heartbreaking.

As a resident who sheltered neighbors last night, please help me do everything we can to help these wonderful people. The money will be divided equally among the families significantly affected on Milner Drive and Milner Court (10 homes).  We love our street and our friends and want to make our little community whole again.

Because that's what neighbors do.
