Milkshake The Rooster's Leg Surgery
Milkshake is a friendly silky rooster that was surrendered to FFAS in 2020. He was supposed to be a hen and when he turned out to be a rooster his owners were not able to keep him where they lived. A couple months ago we noticed he was limping pretty bad. Upon inspection we found significant swelling in his leg. It appeared to be an infection in his leg. We treated with antibiotics and the swelling and limping subsided. A few weeks later his symptoms returned. After a visit with his exotics vet she indicated that he likely has a foreign body in his leg that is causing the reoccurring infection. His vet has recommended surgery to find and remove anything causing the infection. The estimated cost is included in the screen shot below. Right now we are keeping Milkshake as comfortable as we can until we can get him the surgery.
