Aloha everyone!
It has been a difficult year for our family. Miles suffered a grand mal seizure out of the blue while sleeping, which turned into a staff infection in his blood and brain fluid, of which the doctors couldn't find a definite cause.
After 2 weeks in the hospital and 2 months of IV antibiotics at home, he is now embarking on his next medical hurdle: open heart surgery.
Through the tests while in the hospital, they found that he has a biscuspid aorta with severe regurgitation. The aortic valve along with a few inches of his aorta needs to be replaced. Just in the last 2 months while recovering fromt the blood infection, a second mitro valve has started leaking. Therefore, now, he will have to replace 3 major parts of his heart.
Because of the complicated nature of this surgery, he was referred to go to Stanford Medical Center. We are planning and trying to reserve tickets, accomodations as of now. We will be going at the end of the month and will sadly have to leave our 4 year old daughter behind for Halloween. Miles will have to stay for 5-6 weeks total to cover the post-op procedures/consults, etc. I will be going for a couple weeks, will then return home to take care of our daughter and our 2 businesses, and then have to go back to escort him home.
Figuring out how to make this happen financially has been a huge struggle for us and we decided to try this "go fund me" opportunity.
Please do not feel obligated to donate, as we understand that most times everyone has more than enough to deal with in their own life.
