Miles4Mombasa

Nikki, Johanna, Mackenzie, and Siena recently completed a pre-medical summer internship through International Medical Aid based in Mombasa, Kenya. Throughout their time, they interned at Coast General Teaching and Referal Hospital where they shadowed physicians and nurses, engaged in heartfelt conversations with patients, and truly got a feel for the local Kenyan culture. In doing so, they all felt an inclination to continue their involvement in the Mombasa community. Some individuals in Mombasa live on less than $2 U.S. dollars per day and struggle to pay their simplest hospital bills. Despite all of the hardships noticed, they all stood in awe of their persistent smiles and the positivity emitted by the patients encountered. As a result, they felt called to initiate a fundraiser and are planning on running the Huntington Beach Half & Full Marathon to raise money for the incredible patients they met during our time in Mombasa and for future ones in need. They would greatly appreciate any donations and will be sure that 100% of the proceeds go to patients in need at Coast General Hospital. They thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness!
