Ashlie on has been discharged from the hospital today, but still needs to be by Miles side. She has been placed on the list for the Ronald McDonald House, but there are so many on the list ahead of her. She is still needing help with her stay while Miles is in the hospital awaiting his second surgery. If there is anything you could help with, it would greatly be appreciated. If you’re not able to help, please keep Miles and Ashlie in your prayers while Miles awaits his next surgery. TIA ❤️ please follow Miles Heart Journey for all updates..
Our sweet Miles made his appearance on Thursday January 25, 2024!! He is so perfect and doing very well!! He had a procedure done Thursday night to open up a whole to allow oxygen in his heart. He did very well and it seems to be working well.. He does still have his c-pap on but it’s turned down pretty low. He started taking a paci today and that made me very happy!! Hi, our names are Sheila and Sherrie and we are asking for anyone who would like to donate for my sister Ashlie Cummings. Ashlie is 32 weeks pregnant. After her first Ultrasound with her Doctor, she was told that our precious Miles has an abnormality in his heart. After more intensive Ultrasounds, Doctors say Miles has what’s called (DORV) Double Outlet Right Ventricle, which is the Pulmonary and the Aorta, the two major arteries, and his are both connected to the right Ventricle. Ashlie currently resides in Groves, Tx and has to travel to Galveston, Tx to her Pediatric Specialist. Miles expected delivery date is January 25, 2024. After Miles is born, Miles will be transferred to Memorial Herman in Houston, Tx for Heart Surgery. Doctors say Miles is growing as he should. Ashlie cannot work, and now has been told she has Gestational Diabetes which has making her sick. We are asking anyone who would like to donate for help with travel, food, and Hotel stay so she can continue to be with Miles.
Miles will be looking at staying approximately 4 weeks in NICU. Anything helps.. If you are not able to donate, please keep Ashlie & Miles in your prayers. For anyone who would like any updates, please follow “Miles Heart Journey”..
Thank you all, and God Bless!!

LONG UPDATE: We had a good visit today with the pediatric cardiologist and Miles actually behaved himself and let them see everything they needed without a squirming fuss! The diagnosis has changed and they clearly seen instead of DORV with VSD he has TGA… Transposition of the great arteries (TGA) is a serious, rare heart problem in which the two main arteries leaving the heart are reversed. The condition is present at birth, which means it's a congenital heart defect. There are two types of transposition of the great arteries: Complete transposition of the great arteries, also called dextro-transposition of the great arteries (D-TGA). This type reduces the amount of oxygen-rich blood to the body. Symptoms are usually noticed during pregnancy, immediately after birth or within a few weeks of birth. Without treatment, serious complications or death can occur is the one he has. He has to have surgery within the first 10 days of his life to fix this. They will go through his navel and give him medication to help him while waiting for surgery. The medicine will act as my body does to keep him healthy and alive. He will be transported from Galveston to Houston Memorial Herman sometime soon after birth but how many days is uncertain till he is born. They said there is a possibly that they may have tto intubate him for transportation and I am very worried about that and hope that won’t be the case. Also there may be a small hole and if there is they will have to insert a small balloon into it. Pray pray pray! We appreciate every prayer we have received so far! I am happy he finally let them see everything so we have a definite answer! We were hoping we would get to wait till the 6 month mark but he has this and he is going to rock this surgery and do amazing!!!
