Miles for Mason

Donation protected
We are doing Miles for Mason. On the 28th of May, we will be riding from Plymouth to Barnstaple - coast to coast - to raise some cash for Mason's next treatment at
the Adeli Rehab Centre in Slovakia. This is an intensive treatment program, and hence it is pretty expensive to fund.
With a little help from some friends we are hoping to raise some funds to continue the progress they have made with Mason in previous treatments.
Here is Mason in training, now time for us old chaps to get training.....
Here's a little caption from Blake and Sasha..
"Our son Mason was born prematurely in the 31st week of pregnancy. He weighed only 3,3lb (1,65kg) and was transferred to ICU immediately after delivery. Fortunately his condition stabilized within the next 48 hours and he started to breathe independantly. After a few weeks in the incubator we could finally take our baby home.
Mason recovered from day to day, picked up weight gradually, and we slowly lost sight of his dramatic arrival. When Mason was about 6-7 months old we began to notice that he was moving less, he was unable to sit with support or in the high chair and his eye began to squint.  The GP was reassuring us that this is because of his prematurity and that everything will take longer and he will eventually catch up. But the truth was completely different.
When Mason was around 1 year old, we finally got to see a specialist who quickly determined that he was suffering from cerebral palsy as a result of the bleeding in the brain at birth. It was a huge shock to us. We did not know what to expect and the doctors could not tell us much about his prognosis. The list of possible complications was endless: motor problems, mental issues, visual disturbances, etc., etc. It was a terrible time for us as a family when suddenly all the dreams we had for our baby and us as a family were quickly disappering before our eyes.

But we did not give up, we started with physiotherapy and we visited rehabilitiation centres in Slovakia, where we spent months and weeks at a time. By the time Mason was 3 he had already had 4 corrective surgical proceures to the eyes, body and legs. We do physio at home every day for about an hour, go swimming and are excited about every little progress that our incredible boy Mason makes.

Today, Mason is nearly 5 years old and he attends a nursery where he has a care assistant who helps him throughout the day. He can sit without support, and can crawl  after his last 2 visits to the Adeli centre. At this time he can not stand without support or walk, but we hope with time and hard work he will get there.

Mason has been to the Adeli rehabilitation centre 4 times and this has always showed amazing results and we would therefore like to continue with the treatment at this center. We aim to go twice a year and the rough cost  per visit is £2600 for the treatment only."
