Help Send Mike to Science Symposium

I am writing this on behalf of my son Michael Dello Russo. He has been given the honor of being one of 8 students selected to represent Massachusetts at the American Junior Academy of Science (AJAS) meeting in San Jose, California, February 11 – 15, 2015. This is a great honor at any age but the fact he is only 15 makes it even more exciting.  Michael currently is a sophomore attending Revere High School.  He received a second place honor at the Massachusetts State Science and Engineering fair in May 2014 for his project, “Micro Plastic Pollution in Beach Sediment and Its Effects on Organisms”, a subject very important but until recently overlooked.    From this, he was selected to present his project at the Massachusetts Junior Academy of Science Symposium held at MIT this past October.  Michael placed 4th in his category of biology and, therefore, qualified to attend the AJAS meeting in San Jose, CA this coming February.  He will present his project at a poster session and then will give an oral report along with a powerpoint presentation to a panel of judges.  This will be a great experience for Michael who intends to study biology and environmental science in the future.  We are very excited for him.  In order for Michael to attend, registration fees, airfare, and hotel reservation costs need to be met.  Also to compound the cost, because he is only 15, Michael is required to have a chaperone in which I will be travelling with him in that capacity.  My wife and I always support our children in all they do but unfortunately in this past year, we had some unexpected expenses including repair due to tornado damage and having to install a new heating system.  We want Michael to have this unbelievable opportunity and would be grateful for any help that can be given to defray the cost of this trip.  This is not only a great accomplishment for Michael but also for Revere Public Schools and the city of Revere.  Thank you very much for your generosity,
