Mikes Upcoming Surgery

Well hello all; I have exhausted all options and now I am here at a stand still asking for help. Here is a little backstory: I have been dealing with some sort of digestive issues for 9+ years and was offically diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2015. Ulcerative Colitis for those unaware is a autoimmune disease where my body basically attacks itself and causes large, painful, ulcers throughout the large intestine. There is only ONE cure for this disease and that is removal of the colon (large intestine). Medications are also prescribed, but they do not cure the disease, just treat it.  I have tried every single medication that you can think of as well as medicinal diets and holistic options. I tried a biologic (Humira- weekly shots) and those failed after 5 months.  This past  September symptoms got even worse.  Another colonoscopy was done and showed severe inflamation with blood and mucus. I was prescribed more medicications yet nothing seemed to be  helping anymore. At this point it was either try an infusion medication or removal of the colon. After much thought and back and forth, I decided to go ahead with the surgery.

I have missed many good times with family and friends due to this disease. I missed out on lots of events with my kids and dates with my wife all because of the pain and constant worry of a restroom. I have missed a tremendous amount of work especially in the last 2 years. I have exhausted all sick, vacation, and personal days due to this illness. Since the end of September I have not received a paycheck. I have used up all of our savings and have been selling anything we can part with to bring in some extra money.  My job offers only a very small amount for short term disability and its very difficult to try and survive on $300 a week. I have 2 kids (and one on the way...lol yes Tiffany is pregnant too.)  I will be out of work until March. I honestly hate to seek help and this is a truly humbling experience, but I have no choice and if I knew someone truly in need, I would do anything to help them. I am just looking to pay some bills for the upcoming medical procedure and things like mortgage, utilities and food. Honestly, ANYTHING will help. We appreciate everything, even if it is just a few kind words.  We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
