Hello All,
Mike McGuire a Transcon employee and my brother in law three years ago was hurt at work. This injury has completely changed his life he went from enjoying his life too dealing with a partial disability and mental anguish on how to deal with his disability.
Mike is 45 and has had three back surgeries only to leave him in constant pain and walking with a cane. Mike does not like narcotic pain medicine so he deals with the pain how ever he can. I am asking you right now to really think what if this was me, one day you are walking with your wife and kids at the store and tomorrow your not. The medical term for Mike's condition is called " Failed back syndrome". This has left Mike with only one option a spinal cord stimulator. Mike thought there was hope to regain some of his life back, all to find out that washington's labor And Industries does not cover this procedure. This is a two step process #1 the trial procedure to see if there is relief the cost of this is $ 10,000.00 and if there is relief then on to step #2 which is a permanent device that you have inserted in your body the cost for this surgery is $ 80,000.00. From there with L and I not covering this Mike submitted this to his own insurance company with the insurance company turning in down once again because they consider this a work related injury. Mike at that point was at an all time low thinking he has no hope for a pain free life. But i say God is bigger then Mike's injuries I say we as people are bigger then Mike's injuries so I contacted a close friend who happens to be a back doctor and last week on thursday at 9:30 pm Mike received a blessing right out of the thin air # 1 was complete, the trial procedure was done and it worked Mike has been walking pain free for almost a week no problems no pain enjoying that walk with his family. This thursday Mike has to remove the trial stimulator because of infection risk going back to pain everyday and walking with his cane once again. This same doctor friend has talked with some of his colleagues and will do the permanent surgery for $25,000.00. I am asking and believing in the power we all possess to help, myself included we can change this for mike and give him his life back and return the
the joy back to his face that this unfortunate injury has taken. I belive this in all things "together we all will florish and divided we all will be conquered". Please help Mike McGuire and Thank you for your giving and Thank you for your time.
