Mike Hofmeister Family Memorial Fund

Mike Hofmeister, a wonderful husband, dad, son, nephew, grandson, and brother, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 13th, 2019. He leaves behind his wife Amy, and his children Josh (15), Ashley (12), Lindsay (9).
Mike was born on June 4, 1976 to David Hofmeister and Patricia Balzer. He married Amy Swanson on May 6, 2000 and was a loving husband for 19 years. He died much too soon.
Now we are in a haze of grief. We write these words through the tears. Mike leaves a wife without a husband and a family without a dad.
Mike loved his family -- oh how he loved his family. Mike adored his wife Amy and loved her with an intensity you couldn't miss. His kids were his delight, and he bragged about them continually. Mike's favorite days were with his family.
Mike's first concern was always his family. Unfortunately, prior to Mike's passing, his family went through a series of financial setbacks. Now they have to bury their dad and husband.
We have started this go fund me page in hopes of easing at least some small part of the burden his family faces. The family will have to manage funeral expenses and all of the hospital bills with the knowledge their dad won't be able to provide.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Amy expresses her deep gratitude for all the support. Words cannot express our grief. Every day is a challenge, but we are thankful for all the notes and prayers as our hearts ache.

UPDATE 4/22/19:
Last week was the visitation and funeral. It all seems a blur. So many emotions, so many family and friends, and so many hugs... On Sunday we celebrated Easter and the resurrection of our Lord. Your prayers have been a great encouragement to the family and we go forward knowing Mike is in heaven with his Savior. We wish he was here with us, but we are certain we will see him again in Heaven.
Again thank you to all that have given so generously to help Mike's family. In the coming weeks, Doug Tietz will assist Amy with administering the funds to start to pay the bills and bridge some of the financial gaps as the family goes forward.

Michael D. Hofmeister, 42, of Midland, passed away peacefully at Mid-Michigan Medical Center April 13, 2019. He was born on June 4, 1976 to David Hofmeister and Patricia Balzer. He married Amy Swanson on May 6, 2000 and was a loving husband for 19 years. Michael worked as a chemical engineer for Dow Chemical for many years.
Michael served his country as a US Army Captain in the 101st Airborne. He was also an avid fisherman and loved to sail. Michael loved to camp and was also very active in Scouting. The most important thing in his entire life and what he always put first was his family.
Michael is survived by his spouse Amy Hofmeister (Swanson), son Josh and daughters Ashley and Lindsay. He is also survived by his parents David and Patricia Hofmeister; grandparents, Barbara Hofmeister, Mel and Fran Balzer; sisters Karen (Mel) Habte, Amy (Doug) Tietz; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Kevin Maksym officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home from 4-7pm and at the church from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will take place at Midland City Cemetery.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the family and his children in his memory.
