Mike's Medical & Living Expenses

Our Dad really needs your help right now. For those of you who are not aware, our Dad Mike underwent a colostomy reversal and double hernia repair surgery on November 8th, 2017. This was to correct what happened in early April of 2016. Plan was to be home recovering within a week or two of his surgery. Unfortunately things have not gone as planned. Although his 8 hour surgery was successful at the time, he ended up with E. Coli and became septic two days later. In addition to the infection, he developed pneumonia. Dad is currently walking out a very similar path as he did last year.

He is still in ICU and continues to prove his doctors and all of us how much of a fighter he is. All of his numbers are trending in the right direction, but his road to recovery will be a long one and there are significant expenses associated with his recovery and his inability to work that are not covered by insurance. The one thing we know about our Dad is that he is a fighter. He is determined to get well and the family has appreciated all the thoughts and prayers sent his way.

Many of you have asked: "How can I help?" So here's the situation: Our Dad is not working at this time and will have exhausted his vacation/sick time and savings by the end of this month. He has a very small amount of Navy retirement and EDD coming in, but not nearly enough to cover his combined living and medical expenses.

We are therefore setting up this Go Fund Me page to help support him. Our Dad's recovery will involve weeks in a rehab facility once he's discharged and any donations will go directly to pay for his living and medical expenses.
