Mike Pappas Needs Our Assistance!
In early September, Mike suffered a heart attack after blood clots formed following his foot surgery. He coded five times and was placed on life support, which he came off a week later. He was in critical care for ten days.
The good news is that Mike is now on the mend at Layhill Rehabilation Center. He remembers you all but is still skeptical that Trump is president.
His recovery however will be long. He is slowly regaining his strength and only then can he begin a lengthy rehab for his original foot surgery. He will not be able to return to work at the DC Central Kitchen or to his pottery classes until mid November at the earliest.
We set an initial goal of $7K and then increased it to $12K (10/2) as we gather information on about lost wages, rent payments and heavy medical expenses.
10/15 UPDATE: Mike has been without a paycheck since mid August and by mid-November will have lost an estimated $16K in wages. This fundraiser is an essential part of help Mike to meet his day to day expenses including rent, bills and associated medical expenses, some of which are still to be determined.

This fundraiser is being set up by Cass Johnson, the Executive Director of District Clay Center at which Mike has been a teacher at for the past five years. Mike Pappas was Cass' original pottery teacher at Hinckley Pottery over 15 years ago. Funds are being raised by teams from other places that Mike has worked (and potted) including Tye River Pottery, Hinckley Pottery and DC Central Kitchen.
Cass is collecting the funds which will be used for the following needs while Mike is recovering in the hospital. These include rent, utility and credit card payments as well as associated medical expenses. Mike has not received a paycheck since his original foot surgery in mid August. All money raised is being transferred to Mike when received.
