Mike Palmero Medical Support Fund

Mike Palmero is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Gulfport, MS. Mike is a hero in our community and contracted ocular melanoma a little over a year ago. He had his eye removed and was fitted with a prosthetic. Soon after, the cancer metastasized to his liver. He has been receiving immunotherapy which has slowed the growth but was not effective at removing the cancer. He is now starting a phase two treatment receiving several radio embolisation treatments. The co-pay alone for this treatment is $500.

Mike has been a Mississippi Gulf Coast hero. A Navy Seabee Veteran and as a counselor for the past 31 years has served thousands of men, women, and children in need.

Mike has worked with the Gulf Coast Women's Center as a champion and advocate of safety in women from all walks of life.  He worked tirelessly to teach and mentor hundreds of men in the Domestic Violence Intervention Program for over 22 years.

For the past 15 years, Mike has volunteered thousands of hours with the Mankind Project to teach, mentor, and lead men to lead safe & productive lives.

His work led him to sponsor & support the establishment of the Gulf Coast Men's Center.  Always volunteering his wisdom, compassion, and drive to help others in need. Mike has helped to change the lives of families in the Gulf Coast for generations to come.

Despite losing his home during Katrina he is now facing the challenge of a lifetime. Mike has been bravely battling cancer that took an eye and now has affected his liver.  Despite his life-threatening disease and COVID-19, Mike has continued to see clients all the while continuing his volunteering efforts.

Mike's ability to work has been often challenged with the many side effects of his cancer treatments, which has been the challenge of a lifetime. His veteran benefits do not cover his expenses which puts him in the precarious position of needing to work, despite the time necessary to recover from the treatments.

The Gulf Coast Men's Center has set up this GoFundMe campaign of which 100% of all donations will be given to Mike for his expenses. We will have other fundraising efforts for the local community also.

Mike is a veteran, father, grandfather, brother, as well as a dedicated friend to many. We are humbled and grateful for any act of kindness.

From the bottom of all our hearts here at the Gulf Coast Men's Center, we thank you in advance for your generosity, compassion, and love for our dear friend, Mike.
