Mike Needs An Accessible Home Now!

Donation protected
As a local Landlord and Property Manager, one person who has been loyal for 8+ years is Michael "Mike" McGrath. Our painter and dear friend Mike McGrath, recently had an infection set in a former spine fracture, cutting off the blood supply to his spine and causing (initially) paralysis from the neck down. After one 9 hour neuro/ortho surgery, a week + in ICU, a 2nd surgery (6/22). to install a rod and screws and his upcoming trip to Fanny Allen Rehab, he has some feeling in his arms. We are all hopeful that with intensive PT & OT, that he will regain full use of his arms. With no feeling below the waist yet, his girlfriend Patty needs to get their home accessible in the next few weeks. A ramp, widening and shifting door frames, installing larger doors, and other medical expenses to transition Mike home are mounting. Family and friends can do much of the labor and we believe some vendors who have done business with Mike for years will donate some materials, we know the costs are still more than the cash on hand. With Patty spending much time at Mike’s side as things were touch and go, she has had to give up some shifts and work less. If people would please consider a donation, no matter how small, it will be immensely appreciated. To see a strong and vibrant man go from painting houses one day to paralyzed from the waist has been shocking to all. We know people will step up to the plate and do what they are able as Mike and Patty focus on regaining feeling below the waist and learning to live in their new reality.
