Mike Lopez , CFD : Taking a step forward

Mike Lopez- or you may know him as “Lumpy, Lumpers, Lopey, Uncle Buck, Slopez, John Candy, Pezlo, Pezzy, Chumbles, or Food Palmolive”- is in need of our help.

On December 27, 2021, Mike was admitted to Stroger Hospital and was taken into emergency surgery within a few short hours.  Due to a severe, and rapidly spreading, life threatening infection, and in order to save his life, his right foot was amputated a few inches below his knee.  

Mike was diagnosed with Covid-19 at the beginning of December. As a consequence of the Covid, Mike had no appetite and was unable to keep anything down for weeks. This caused a great amount of weight loss and made it nearly impossible to manage his already troublesome blood sugars.

Unfortunately, timing has not been a friend to Mike.  He is currently only receiving a portion of his CFD salary and is on disability.  On the day of his surgery, Mike HAD NO HEALTH INSURANCE .  Mike and his wife, Katie, are doing their best to make ends meet but these unforeseen medical expenses are making things stressful and  difficult.  Stress is the last thing Mike needs at a time like this. 

Mike is a good candidate for a  prosthesis, but faces a long and costly road ahead.  We know he will have a successful outcome and he is determined to move forward, in the right direction.

Mike is a wonderfully grumpy soul-a son, brother, husband, cousin, uncle, Godfather, and an undeniably loyal friend to so many from all stages and places in his life. Please consider making a donation to help our pal Lopez ease the financial burden and show him how many people love him.
