Mike Long Memorial Fund

On Wednesday February 21, 2018 Mike Long passed away unexpectedly in his home.

Mike was my uncle and was one of the best guys out there, something that many people can vouch for. He was funny, kind and a true handy man. He was constantly cracking jokes and was a pro at making the people around him laugh, even if he wasn't meaning to! He was a jack of all trades when it came to fixing cars, hanging Christmas lights, mowing lawns or just about any other project around the house and even if he wasn't sure how to do something, you better believe he was going to try until he figured it out. Mike was always willing to lend a helping hand, even when he could be struggling himself-he never asked or expected anything in return and he took pride in the work he did for others. Although his true pride, came from his 3 kids, 3 granddaughters and the grandson that will be joining the family in April.

Mike was a big sports fan, the Raiders were his favorite football team and the A's were his baseball team, he was always decked out in team gear and enjoyed going to any game he was able to. However, his favorite games to watch were by far his children's. All 3 of his children played sports through their school careers and Mike was their biggest fan. He was in the stands at every single game no matter how near or far it was and coaching them outside of practices, getting in all the time with them that he could. He was still extremely proud of his children and would do anything they asked of him, but his 3 granddaughters had definitely stole the show. Mike was the grandpa that would give them ice cream for dinner, candy after mom said no, took them to practices, played with them any chance he good, spoiled them, loved them and was overall the best grandpa. In April he would have welcomed his very first grandson, which also would have been the first child by his oldest son and I know how excited he was to finally have a grandson thrown in the mix with the girls, to pass on his love of sports and share his wisdom with. His family is where his true pride stood.

Leaving this world, Mike not only left his 3 kids and 4 grandchildren, he also left his mother JoAnn, who he moved in with when his father passed away in 1987 and has been with her ever since, being her support, protector, lifetime movie watcher, helper, friend and much more. This is just another example of what an amazing man he was. His sisters, brother, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews extended family and the friends that have became family along the way, will all miss him dearly and there will definitely be a part of all of us missing from here on out.

With his passing being so unexpected, it gave the family no time to prepare and left a lot of things unanswered. Along with the cost of preparing him for his next journey, he also left unpaid bills and other expenses that the family will now need to sort out and get back on track, to resume life as "normally" as possible now.

If you would like to make any kind of donation, anything would be greatly appreciated and all funds will go to his daughter Donna Long. If you are not able to donate any kind words or messages left for the family will be appreciated as well. Thank you.
