Mike Keanaaina's Memorial Fundraiser

Many of you know and love my Dad, Mike Keanaaina. About two and a half weeks ago, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer.

It's crazy how your life can change almost overnight. Dad originally went into the doctor because he felt a hard spot on his neck, and thought he should get it checked out. The doctor they went to see felt it and instantly knew it was cancer of some sort.

Within a few days, he had more MRIs, PET scans, sonograms, blood tests, and biopsies than all of us combined. He had been poked and prodded and said he felt like a "pin cushion". All the while the doctors were trying to figure out what kind of cancer it was, whether it was malignant, and how aggressive it was.

My family waited anxiously through each test to see if maybe they finally had some answers. Luckily, just a few days ago, we finally got them.

His official diagnosis is stage 4, sub-mandibular cancer. It is malignant, aggressive, and inoperable. The only real treatment they can provide is chemotherapy.

The doctors said that although Dad is relatively healthy, that we need to take things six months at a time.

Our family is optimistic and positive and want the best outcome possible. However, the medical bills are piling up, and Mom and Dad said that it is time to try to reach out to our friends and family and see if any of you can help. I know how much all of you love Dad and have come to depend on him over the years, so this gofundme is also a way to keep everyone updated on his status.
