Mike Hykes Medical Expenses Fund

Donation protected
Hi,

Mike Hykes, who has been a neighbor and a friend for almost 30 years, had a bad accident with a tractor last weekend. He was caught in the tractor rake mechanism as the tractor rolled down a hill, dragging Mike along as it crashed through a fence and came to a stop at the bottom of the hill.

Update 1: We believe that Mike was actually run over by the three ton tractor prior to becoming entangled in the rake for the trip down the hill.

In the process, Mike was badly hurt, breaking bones and sustaining injuries from his shoulder down to his legs and feet. Mike is fortunate to be alive, and we are ever grateful for the providence that allowed him to survive, but he was badly hurt.

Update 2: Latest report: Mike has a crushed left shoulder, a broken left arm, 8 broken ribs (4 on each side), 5 broken vertebra, a crushed pelvis, a broken right femur, a broken right ankle, and a broken left foot. There are also other various tissue injuries. This is as badly hurt as I've ever seen anyone.

The accident was witnessed by someone who called emergency services right away. Mike was flown by helicopter to Akron General hospital where he was stabilized, and is now starting to undergo a series of surgeries designed to put his body, and his life, back together. He is in a lot of pain, and has a long road to go, but optimism is called for. Mike will recover.

I can't tell you how grateful I am for the skills of the emergency workers, professionals, friends and relatives that are helping Mike heal. But the fact remains that this is going to be expensive, and Mike won't be able to work again for quite some time. This is going to be a challenge for Mike, who is by nature a hard worker. He'll have to rest in order to recover.

If you know Mike, you know what kind of person he is. Mike has always, always, been willing to help me and my family and I'd like to help him. I am starting this fund and I'm going to donate to this fund to give Mike some financial breathing room until he can get, literally, back on his feet, and I'd be grateful, and I'm sure Mike would be grateful, if you would join me in doing helping Mike, in contributing, in prayer, and in any other way you can.

Thank you,

Greg and Janet DeLozier

(Who live across the street from Mike...)

P.S. There are also other ways to help. Mike has animals to care for,  chores that need done, and errands that have to be run. If you want to help, there are lots of ways to do so!
