The surgeon removed a large section of Mike's colon, along with a part of his abdominal wall and 18 lymph nodes. Mike spent the next 6 days in the hospital healing from his surgery. During that he time we met with his oncologist Dr. Corum. He shared with us that the mass in Mike's colon was "a mean, ugly cancer" that had spread through the colon wall. The section removed from his abdominal wall was also cancerous and 8 of the 18 lymph nodes were affected by cancer. Treatment options were discussed but the focus for now is healing from surgery.
Mike went home from the hospital on February 18th and was able to get his staples removed on the 27th. On March 5th he got his port put into place. He will have a CAT scan of his lungs on the 16th. This type of colon cancer travels 3 places: stomach, liver, lungs so we need to get the scan of his chest done prior to finalizing treatment plans. On March 19th he will meet with Dr. Corum to set up his treatment plan.
This Go Fund Me account will help to offset lost wages for both Mike and Dianna as well as help to cover medical expenses. Our family has been so humbled and blessed beyond measure at the outpouring of love, prayers, and support. We can not thank you all enough.
