Mika's First Mainland Competition

This is Elizah - Eli or Mika to those who know her. She is lovingly referred to as Mini by me, the aunty who loves her the most. ^_^
My Mini has been dancing since she could squirm her tiny little body. It didn't matter what song it was, if it had a good beat her tiny body moved along with it. Her mom, my sister Roxie, brought my Mini with her to all her hula and tahitian dance practices. It was here my Mini found her feet. She would mimic all the dance moves taught, and even figured out choreography at the young age of 4. While she learned both hula and tahitian, it was the quick rhythms of the toere, and deep resonating beats of the pahu that she was drawn to. Tahitian became her outlet. She did her first tahitian performance in front of a crowd at 6 years old and hasn't stopped since.
Last year my Mini participated in her FIRST tahitian competition and placed THIRD in her age division!!! Since then she has been training hard to do even better. Her group is headed to the big International Tahitian Ori Competition in Long Beach, California and she really wants to join them. She has been doing her best to raise the money she needs by helping her mom sell plate lunches, help her grandpa around his motorcycle shop, and by putting the money she gets into her savings. With all that effort, they are still a long way away from having enough to go.
