Mikal Wersland Memorial

Mikal Ames Wersland, 47, quietly passed on Sunday, September 2, 2018. A Father, Son, Brother and Friend, Mike impacted thousands by the way he lived and served.  It is hard to describe Mike to anyone who didn’t know him. A man among men, Mike was a guide, provider, and fierce protector to his family, friends, and the community.  Mike lived his life with passion and sheer will-power, despite all odds. Mike graduated from Viewmont High School in Bountiful, Utah in 1989, served a two-year mission for the LDS Church in Los Angeles, California where he worked with and learned to love the Samoan people.  Mike is a retired police officer after more than 23 years of selfless and exemplary service, having worked with the University of Utah, South Salt Lake City, DEA, SWAT, and finally the Unified Police Department. Mike was an inventor and entrepreneur his whole life. His most recent invention (www.throttlemaxx.com) makes the often bumpy side-by-side ATV ride a little more enjoyable… Mike made the bumpy road of life a little more enjoyable for everyone that knows him.  As said in a recent post by one of his comrades, Mike wasn’t a perfect man, but he was a great man. He was married for 18 year to Jennice Oldroyd Wersland.  He is survived by his children Jordan (25), Brooke (15), Katie (13), and Alex (10). 

While the family grieves this unimaginable loss, a GoFundMe page has been set up with the knowledge and blessing of the Wersland family. This will provide a place for everyone to get additional information, post their condolences, and hopefully donate to the memorial fund we have set up in Mikal’s name. Any donations received, will be greatly appreciated and will go directly to covering the cost of funeral expenses. Any money that exceeds the funeral expenses will put into a fund for the children.
