Miguel's Recovery Fund

On Sunday, June 2nd, one of our newest team members, Miguel, had a nasty fall off of one of our two-year-olds which resulted in a traumatic head injury that caused the need to be airlifted to a shock, trauma center in Baltimore. He was brought into surgery that afternoon and is currently in a stable condition in Intensive Care.   
Even though he hasn't been with Herringswell for very long, Miguel is everything you look for in a new rider. Along with having that certain touch for young horses, he came to work with a smile on his face, a willingness to ride anything that came his way and an eagerness to improve. 
 Since all of his medical bills are going to be covered, we are looking to raise funds to bring his family to Baltimore to be with him while he is in the hospital. Upon waking, Miguel will have a long road to recovery where he won't be able to work. What we raise will also be used for whatever he will need: from housing to food, and anything else he'll need during his recovery. 
Moments like this give you pause. We all know that in our industry some of the worst moments happen quickly and quietly on seemingly perfect days. This intense incident has made me acutely respectful and grateful for everything our crew does on a daily basis. The day to day on the track can be such an extreme metaphor for life's ups and downs, how everything can change so quickly, and how important it is to live every moment you are given to it's fullest.
