Vulnerability. Surrender. Reaching out for help. All of which have not been easy for Miguel during his lifetime, but now, are absolutely essential.
On September 9, 2018, Miguel's greatest passion of nature excursions and his very livelihood as a Holistic Hiking Guide in Sedona, AZ, came to a screeching halt.
During a routine hiking and rock climbing outing with friends, Miguel lost his grip, fell, and was badly injured. With his shin bone protruding through the skin and a dangling foot, this gory mess required a helicopter rescue from the top of Bell Rock.
Through extraordinary pain, 2 helicopters, 10 total days in the hospital, and 4 surgeries in total (the 5th surgery, while considered optional, is preferred by Miguel to eventually remove the plates and screws in about 8 -12 months). Miguel has responded well to grim news, being told that he may not walk on his foot for 4 to 6 months.
After a slow summer financially, which is typical for the tour business in Sedona, Miguel is faced with little to no income, mounting medical and rescue bills, in addition to his regular living expenses and a bevy of health-related supplements and products recommended by his health professionals. He did not get a chance to earn even 1 full paycheck from busy-season which starts in September and goes through November where he makes the bulk of his income.
Miguel has spent his 15-year career as a "Holistic Hiking Guide" bringing joy, love, and healing to thousands of others. He educates on the glories of nature, such as geology, flora, and fauna, but also provides life coaching, energy healing, mindfulness practices, and personally tailored holistic skills to eager and grateful clients, inspiring people to consistently rave about life-changing experiences! He and his beloved girlfriend Julie, who is helping with this campaign, are reaching out to our local and worldly community, appealing to every kind and generous soul who would consider a donation to cover medical and living expenses during his recovery. When Julie and Miguel began the Fundraiser, their goal amount was higher than it currently reads, since they were still confused and in the dark about what they would owe for hospital care and search & rescue helicopters. With clarity from Miguel's health insurance company, they have significantly lowered their Fundraiser goal amount to $9,500, having already reached the deductible-owed goal, and needing now to cover living expenses due to his inability to work as a Holistic Hiking Guide for several months.
Having spent years diligently and successfully paying off old debts, Miguel finds himself without much savings, and is therefore humbly asking for all the support he can receive.
