On Wednesday, October 15, Don Miguel suffered a severe stroke. He stopped breathing for approximately twenty minutes and, despite the efforts of the emergency personnel, he suffered a second episode during transport. He was treated in the intensive care unit at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, where he sustained severe brain damage due to lack of oxygen. On Saturday, November 1,

he was taken off life support and transferred home, as it was not possible to continue palliative care in any hospice. He is now receiving oxygen and medication to make his final moments as painless as possible.

Our family is deeply affected and, in addition to the grief, we are facing a financial burden that exceeds our means: unexpected expenses and future arrangements.

That is why we have created this campaign to ask for your help. Any contribution, no matter how small, will give his family immense relief and allow him to rest in peace with dignity when the time comes.

El miércoles 15 de octubre, Don Miguel sufrió un grave accidente cerebrovascular. Permaneció aproximadamente veinte minutos sin respirar y, pese a los esfuerzos del personal de emergencia, sufrió un segundo episodio durante el traslado. Fue atendido en cuidados intensivos en el hospital Methodist de San Antonio, Texas, donde quedó con daño severo por falta de oxigenación. El sábado 1 de noviembre

fue desconectado de los soportes vitales y trasladado a casa, ya que no fue posible continuar los cuidados paliativos en ningún hospicio. Ahora permanece recibiendo oxígeno y medicación para que su agonía sea lo menos

dolorosa posible.

Nuestra familia está profundamente afectada y, además del dolor, afrontamos una carga económica que supera nuestras posibilidades: gastos inesperados y futuros arreglos.
