Miguel & Dawn's Family Fund

Donation protected

As many of you now know, our dear friend and neighbor Miguel Espinosa and his family find themselves in some incredibly hard times right now.

He was brought here as a child, but missed the age cutoff to apply to be a DREAMer (and that status isn't as safe as it once was anyway).

He’s been legally married to Dawn, a US citizen, since 2004. But because he was already here undocumented, they could not apply for citizenship.

He is a loving father to 3 amazing kids and also has an extended family that loves and needs him.

He has run a successful food truck in Yellow Springs, OH, for a number of years providing delicious & healthy food. He is a hard working business man, an excellent chef and a well-respected member of our community.

Their children are just a couple of weeks into the new school year with the youngest experiencing the whole new world that is kindergarten. Then this tragedy unfolded & their worlds have been ripped open. My heart aches for them all & I know I'm not alone in that.

I have seen Miguel’s love for his family, his loyalty to his friends, his unstoppable work ethic & his commitment to giving back. He has a smile that can light up a room & he gives great hugs. His just one of those joy-filled people who want to help and give all they can, where they can.

He has volunteered at the schools by helping to provide food at many events, donated jars of salsa and created a gift basket for raffles for other local non-profits and so much more. He is a tremendous asset to this town, this state and an example of the beautiful strength in diversity in our country. He came here trying to make a better life for himself & his family and he has done that and more. He has also stepped into ways to make our country a better place in the ways he gives back & reaches out tto others.

Given the devastating reality that he is being held pending a bond hearing, his income isn't coming in right now, both he and his wife work & their combined contributions are relied upon to take care of their family.

At the heart of this unfortunate situation is a loving family and a community that loves them right back. Let's show them how much we care by doing all we can to support them.

This Family Fund is one such way to do that. There is also a Meal Train that local folks have signed up for to provide meals as a way to help. And for those who are out of the area & wwant to help you could add money to their account set up a local deli, Current Cuisine, where the family can get meals also. (http://www.currentcuisine.com/ has info about them & you can call them directly at (937) [phone redacted] to contribute.

And please also contact your elected officials and encourage them to work toward comprehensive immigration reform. The system is so very broken as we can see all too well in this one example. Taking this action as well as helping Miguel's family would be stepping up & showing we care in the very way that he would. <3

Gracias for your help!
