Mighty Julia
On December 1st, 2017, the world became a much smaller place. Carlos Navarro, a United States Marine, touched the lives of so many people. Carlos had an irresistible charm about him, a wit that could make you laugh at the oddest of times, and a way of letting those he cared about know just how much they meant to him. I cannot put into words that do it justice, to describe just how much he meant to me, how much he meant to so many others, but especially how much he meant to his incredible family, whom I've had the pleasure of getting to know.
On April 14th, 2018, I will be running in the Fallen Heroes 5k in memory and honor of Carlos Navarro (05/01/89-12/01/17). I need your help. To truly run in his memory, I need to run for a cause that he would have cared so very much about. That cause is baby Julia Navarro, his 5-month old niece he never got the chance to meet. Shortly before Carlos passed, Julia was diagnosed with biliary atresia, and she is now in need of a liver transplant.
I will be raising money to assist in Mighty Julia's medical bills, as I know they must be overwhelming for their family. I also want to help Julia's incredibly strong mother (super woman in the flesh), Analy Navarro, in spreading the word about this terrible disease that is affecting the most innocent angels of us all. I would like to meet my goal of raising $10,000 by April 14th, when I make my way to the starting line to run in Carlos's memory. This is a huge goal; I cannot do it without your help. Carlos used to tell me that I could do anything that I wanted to, he told me I was super woman in the flesh. I know that he is probably laughing at me right now, across whatever distance there is (getting a big head, as his roommate calls it), but I also know that this is a cause he would stand behind and cheer me on all the way to the finish line.
