Sam's Oesophageal Cancer Half Mara

Donation protected
Hi All,

As most of you know by now my dad has been enduring one of the hardest times in his life since being diagnosed with Stage 4 Oesophageal Cancer at the end of last year with the tumour in his stomach, liver & lymph nodes. In fact being the close family that we are have all been devastated by the news and our worlds turned upside down.

Trouble even swallowing water, pain & discomfort & weight loss have unfortunately become a way of life & through it all he smiles and remains positive.

It was such a shock to all of us to hear of the diagnosis particularly after only having mild symptoms of reflux & indigestion which many can relate to.
I can not emphasise enough to get yourself checked out if you suffer from these symptoms... they may just save your life!

For those who know me well my dad is my hero one of the most kindest & gentlest souls you will ever care to meet. He is the one that always puts everyone before himself and is always there to lean on and help out as required.

Although his strength and gods will is out of my hands I want to show him how strong I can be, he has always encouraged me to be whatever I wanted and given me the confidence to know that I can achieve anything.
Well here I am ready to endure a long 22km half marathon in his honour. I know every stride I take he will be running with me and I am hoping he will make the final few steps to be able to cross the finish line with me

I have had a keen interest in running over the last couple of years but since having Ryder have not been at my best but I now have a couple of months to kick my own butt and train as hard as I can to make my Dad proud.

A few little facts....Oesophageal cancer is one of the rarest cancers in fact it does not even warrant being listed on the cancer councils website
http://www.cancer.org.au/about-cancer/types-of-cancer/
UNBELIEVABLE! so as you can imagine there is little to nothing being done to help find a cure for my dad.

My goal is to raise funds in collaboration with www.ocagi.org the only Australian website dedicated to OC and its research.
So please donate for my crazy run & to support research & awareness of this aggressive disease.

Please follow this page as I will be updating my progress & keeping myself honest.

I have created this as an event for privacy reasons however it is simply to raise awareness & donations I do not expect ur attendance on the day however the more the merrier!

Please feel free to share/ invite ur friends the more awareness we have the better the outcome.

Watch this space for donation options!!!

Thanks for all ur support and if u see me running be sure to give me a honk lol xxxx
