Midlands Arts Conservatory is a free, fine arts-focused public charter school located in Columbia, SC. MAC is seeking additional financial resources to support its high quality fine arts programs -- dance, strings, theatre and visual arts.
Rosie Craig, a preservationist and redeveloper of downtown Columbia, chairs the Board of Directors for Midlands Arts Conservatory.
“This school serves the entire Midlands of South Carolina, and we already are making a difference in the lives of our students,” she said. “We need donations for some very specific items to support our arts program. I am proud to have donated myself, and I encourage you to help.
“Inside the heart and soul of Columbia is a VIBRANT arts community that has been very supportive, and our school is playing it forward for Columbia’s next generation of artists and we can clearly see them at Midlands Arts Conservatory,” Craig said.
In its first year of operations in 2018-2019, MAC resides in a contemporary setting on North Main Street. Our needs for this year and 2020 include:
· $6,500 to complete the Dance Program floor
· $3,000 to build a rehearsal stage for the Theatre Program
· $9,700 to buy 8 violins, 6 violas, 5 cellos for the Strings Program
· $9,577 to buy materials for the Visual Arts Program, including five tabletop pottery wheels, a Skutt kiln and a digital Nikon camera
· $30,400 to buy Chromebooks for 80 students.
