Middle Run Pump Track & Flow Trails

The Delaware Trail Spinners advocate, maintain and build trails in the tri-state region of northern Delaware. Working with our partner New Castle County we added a beginner pump track to the Middle Run Valley Trail System. It's been an amazing success since it opened October 26, 2017. Well over 500 people have discovered this new trail so far. Kids from 2 years old up to their mid-70's have put down laps on this trail. It's great to see kids getting outdoors and enjoying nature with a hidden exercise component.
The Middle Run Valley planning document includes the addition of 3 new flow trails (beginner, intermediate, and expert) and 2 additional pump tracks (intermediate and expert). We are raising funds to hire contractors to build these additional trails.
The Tri-State region will benefit by gaining these new recreational trails that has a broad appeal to a diversified user group. Nothing like this exists within a 60 mile radius.
We're hoping to send out requests for proposals in early January 2018 for ground breaking in late March. The first goal we need to meet is $50,000 which will cover the construction costs of the beginner flow trail. The next goal will be raising an additional $75,000 to cover the cost of the intermediate flow trail. The next goal will be raising an additional $75,000 to cover the cost of the intermediate pump track. The next goal will be raising an additional $100,000 to cover the cost of the expert flow trail. The final goal will be raising an additional $100,000 to cover the cost of the expert pump track. New Castle County has allocated a budget to assist with funding this project but, would like to see community involvement.
