Mickey Summers Memorial Plaque.
As Many of our friends know we lost our dear friend Mickey Summers earlier this month. We are still reeling from the shock of losing him so suddenly and would like to mark his passing in some special way.
After his love of Northern Soul music, Mickeys other passion was his beloved Chelsea Football Club where he was a season ticket holder and lifelong supporter.
We are aiming to raise funds to add a plaque to the famous memorial wall at Stamford Bridge. We know this is something Mickey would have adored.
As some know Mickey had a very troubled life, most of which he spent battling his demons. These battles almost consumed him but thanks to his incredible spirit he never gave up, when many lesser people would have long since thrown in the towel, not Mickey.
He stood up for his principals and as well as helping himself find peace and justice he campaigned unflinchingly to bring the same to so many others. He was their voice and he was not going to go quietly.
His childhood was stolen by unimaginable evil which in turn lead to a torment in later life that nearly overwhelmed him.
Last year he reached the calmer waters on his stormy sea and eagerly anticipated a happier future, his face would light up as he spoke so enthusiastically of his future plans.
Sadly and so cruelly his past, which contributed so heavily to his poor health and early death, meant he was taken from us before he really had the opportunity to live his life beyond his struggles and that breaks our hearts.
If we can have a plaque in his memory at his much loved Chelsea Football Club he would simply burst with pride and we will all imagine his beaming smile as we hope wherever he is now he will feel we have done him proud and a little part of him will always be there singing the Chelsea anthem.
So this is our aim and I hope we can raise the funds to do this for him and if we are lucky enough to reach our goal and surpass it we would like to make sure he has the send off he deserves and the remainder will be sent to 3 charity's he supported so generously. His Survivors fund, BLESMA and the Homeless.
