Mick Holien Needs a Vehicle
In 31 years, Mick Holien drove over 100,000 miles for the Griz, as the Voice of the Griz. He traveled to almost every state in the US.
In the last year and a half, Mick has undergone 2 surgeries and spent more than 100 days in three different rehab facilities.
Afflicted with the debilitating and isolating effects of MS, Mick is no longer able to drive and rarely leaves his home. Full of amazing stories and anecdotes, plenty of social energy and the spunk that made us all "mute our tv's and turn on Mick" when watching the Griz from afar, Mick needs the freedom to explore and get out to visit friends and enjoy his retirement years.
Since the end of his Griz Vox career, Mick has been working hard for his community in Polson. He volunteers for CASA as a Guardian Ad Litem, has volunteered and raised money for the Boys and Girls Club, and sits on several boards including Board Chairman of the City Tax Appeal Board and City/County Planning Board. This is a man who has given SO much to others. He deserves mobility to match his desire to remain involved and social.
$50,000 will pay for a vehicle and the conversion that will help lift Mick from his wheelchair and into the passengers' seat where he can be driven (hopefully A LOT BY ME) to the places he wants to go. Mick gave all of us SO much excitement, joy, support and information over the years. Who doesn't love him? Let's give back to this great symbol of Missoula and Griz pride.
