Michelle's Regional Championship

Michelle Morozinski is a Calaveras County student from Murphys, California who attends Sugar Bowl Academy ski school part of the year.  After dedicating most of her 16 years of life skiing at Bear Valley she has become recognized for her potential to be a truly remarkable skier! This year she has been personally selected to represent Far West at the 2018 Western Regional Championships in Alyeska, Alaska, formerly known as the Junior Olympics.  We are so proud of one of our own working so hard at such a young age to achieve her dreams.  We can think of no young woman better to represent Calaveras County in Alaska.  Michelle's family has made a lot of sacrifices for these dreams to become possible and is it now time for us to help Michelle with this amazing endeavor.  The trip to Alaska alone will cost about $3,000 for travel and lodging.  That is in addition to the cost of her ski school which is about $50,000/year.  While Michelle has qualified for some scholarship financing, her costs for school are still over $10,000. The divisional fees include: lift tickets, entry feeds, lodging, food, waxing, uniforms, coaching expenses, boarding, educational expenses, chaperones, championship banquet fees, transportation, and flights. Michelle will arrive in Anchorage on March 19th and return on the 26th.  For this reason, we are asking for your immediate support to ensure that Michelle has her costs covered so that she can attend the race.

It takes a village to raise a child and our village has done an amazing job with this young lady - however, our work is not yet done.  Let's get this snow angel to Alaska so she can show the rest of the world what small town girls are capable of.
Help Michelle compete in the 2018 Alaskan Western Regional Championships as a Bear Valley skiier and Murphy's native!

As we continue to support Michelle in her efforts to ski faster, set her goals higher, and win big, we will continue to show this community and its families what our kids can do if they set their minds to it.   As one of Michelle's cohorts so aptly put, "Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough (Og Mandino) - Michelle Morozinski is exactly this quote.  Not one obstacle is ever in her way..."  In addition to her skiing prowess, she also continues to boast a 4.0 GPA and works part time at the Murphys Ice Cream store.

Thank you for reading Michelle's story - now let's work hard to get our girl to Alaska and continue to cheer her on she she progresses through life always with that big dream in her head of becoming an Olympic hopeful!
