Friends, I am asking you to be part of my campaign for Health for the Holidays.

I was diagnosed with an enlarged prolapsed Subserosal Fibroidal Tumor which has grown from 6cm to 11cm in just 4 months.  My body has been trying to deliver this monstrosity over the course of one year's time.  Only 1% of all women go through this particular fibroid disorder; many have fibroids, however, but this particular one is a little different from the norm, (if there is such a thing as a normal fibroid).  It is estimated that nearly 300,000 fibroidal hysterectomies are performed in the US every year.  My recent hospitalization last week was due to loss of blood over 90 days which resulted in my body shutting down. I was given 2 transfusions during my stay there.  The majority of fibroids are benign.  Mine is too, most likely, but will have to be submitted for biopsy just because of its size.

All of that said, I am scheduled for an emergency hysterectomy on Tuesday December 15th followed by a hospital stay, follow up appointments and a series of new prescriptions for treatment a few weeks thereafter.

My current situation is concern for my immediate financial future - it is uncertain, at least for the time being.  I am on leave from work and will not be paid for my time off.  If approved for short-term disability, I will be paid at only 50%.  This will significantly impact my major expenses. My most immediate living expenses will be rising to meet the demands of my new day-to-day, including that of my dog, Coco.

Necessary expenses may be compromised which include:

+ Medical expenses: New hospitalization bills from 2 hospital stays, copays, prescriptions
+ Rent for my apartment that I share with Coco
+ Utilities: electricity, gas, phone, Internet, and cable
+ Groceries: prescribed liquid diet in preparation for surgery, plus EBT assistance has ended
+ Car: gas money, insurance
+ Coco's immediate needs such as food and Vet services

Please know this does not come easy and I am doing this with the encouragement of some California classmates from grade school or it would not have been a thought at all. This is not an easy situation for me to be in, let alone to express.  I am not the type to ask for help, much less financial. Lord knows there are many out there equally and more in need than I but I do appreciate it greatly for whatever you may be able to give for my cause.

Being as many of you I've known for several years, I hope that your prayers, your words of hope from experience, your encouragement and your hopes for a speedy recovery will come through.

I know I am not alone; but sometimes I am reminded I am.  When I am fully recovered I hope I will be able to see as many of you as possible to celebrate a new beginning of precious health & life.
