Get Mum back to work

Donation protected
On Friday morning, 23 June 2017,  our mum Michelle Puia (47) suffered a stroke at her home in Runcorn, Brisbane Australia. Mum was admitted into QEII Hospital after our baby brother Mar Jnr (17) called the ambulance for her.  Later that evening, mum suffered another stroke, causing swelling to her brain. My brother Joe (27), sister Sabrina (25) and I arrived into Brisbane from New Zealand and we were told to prepare for the worst.

When we walked into her ward to see her,  she had little movement and was only a little responsive. Something none of us kids expected to see.

7 Days later, with the amazing support of the medical experts at QEII Hospital, mum has defeated all odds and done extremely well in her recovery considering where we were last Friday. She has managed to retrieve most of her speech and mobility. Unfortunately, the road ahead will be a very slow journey to regain full control of her movements, the sensations on her right-hand side of body and limbs and her ability to retain information, people's names' and conversations. This prolongs mum's ability to return back to work full time as a Service Consultant as mum is still not capable of holding complex bits of information and multitasking whilst speaking, typing and problem-solving all in one phone call. This affects her role as the main source of income for our brother and her.

What we need and why?

We actually need $10,000 but would prefer to start off small with $5000 with a deadline of 1 month (3 August 2017).

Why?
The funds we are requesting are to support mum's living costs so that she can focus on a full rehabilitation to return back to work. Depending on how well mum pushes herself, we are aiming for 3 months - if not earlier. This includes covering the costs of Mums' rent and utility bills until she is back at work and capable of doing this on her own again. Meanwhile, us older kids will be returning back to work to support financially from afar while our Nana and our brother stay to help mum with her day to day care.

Our mum is a young, independent and strong woman
who is known and loved by many to have one of the most generous hearts and puts everyone's needs before herself. Since mums' strokes, we have seen the impacts of how many lives she's touched and we can see that she has been the heart of many extended families including our own.  The hardest part about mums recovery is her not worrying about work, her bills, her home and Mar Jnr.

We really want to take the time out to acknowledge those showing support for our mum and especially her employers and work mates for the generosity and constant support for mum at this time. This has really helped mum push herself to think positively about her health in the long run and knowing she has something stable ahead of her will do great things.

On behalf of my siblings and I, we thank you all for your time and love. We will be posting updates of mums progress as we go, and seeing as this is our first time setting up this sort of campaign - we thank you for understanding and your consideration into our Go Fund Me Page.

With love and light,

From Mum's heart valves: Amiria, Joe, Sabrina and Mar Jnr.
