Michelle Performs Lucia in Italy

Buongiorno! Dear friends & music lovers...
My name is Michelle Pedersen, and I am currently a graduate student in Vocal Performance in Utah. I am an "older"student, who still has dreams and goals to achieve, but only with your help. You see, I am too old for the "Young Artist" programs that most graduate students participate in during the summer. So when an opportunity like this one comes along... I just have to go for it!
A little about me...
I have always wanted to continue my studies in opera performance, but due to family obligations I was unable to continue my graduate studies out of my undergrad. So, here I am older, wiser, sassier, and not ready to give up those dreams. This year has been an amazing experience of vocal and performance growth, as I have traversed the University scene once again. This year, I have performed lead roles as well as concert and oratorio work in and out of the school setting. I recently placed 2nd in the advanced classical division and 1st place in the advanced musical theatre division for the NATS Cal-Western regional competition, and will be competing in Boston for the emerging professionals division of the Classical Singer competition in May. However, this summer I have the opportunity to make the biggest leap into my dream career.
A Dream Role...
I have been accepted into the 2018 Opera Division for the La Musica Lirica program in Italy. I have also been cast in the role of Lucia in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, with professional orchestra under the direction of Maestro Joseph Resigno. Lucia is a role that is both vocally and emotionally challenging, and I am over the moon with the opportunity.
I will be living in the town of Novafeltria for most of June and July, while focusing on intensive language study, role study, scene study, and of course rehearsals.

The program costs $5,952.
Further donations will go toward travel and living expenses while in Italy. Due to registration deadlines, I am hoping to raise the full tuition by April 20th, but anything past that date will be greatly appreciated as well.
