iPads for New Classroom

Hello!

I am Michelle Gallagher. 

I am a special education teacher at South Shore Charter Public School in Norwell, MA.  This year I will be starting a new program at the school.  I am starting from "scratch".  I will have approximately 10 students in a program that will focus on social, vocational, life and leisure skills.  These students all have very specific needs. 

I am a fierce advocate for my students and can not imagine them starting off the year without the technology they need on the first day of school.  I have just finished a certificate program to compliment my master's degree.  This program is in assistive technology.  I firmly believe that these students will benefit in increasing their independence through the use of technology.  I now have the proper and specific training to help them to do that. 

Although the school does have technology available it must be shared amongst many students.  The children whom I will be servicing in my class will need curriculum access that can travel home with them each night to complete assignments and stay on schedule.  Some may also use it to communicate more effectively. 

I ask you to join me in raising money for 10 iPad Air tablets so that these students can be given the correct tools they need to access the curriculum and further their autonomy. 

Any funds raised beyond the initial amount will go to paying for cases for the iPads and toward purchasing educational apps.
