I am 68 years old with a 45 year old disabled son. His disability is mental, PTSD, bi-polar, depression, anxiety. He is on medications, sees a psychiatrist and weekly visits by his therapist.  He has no one but me to care for him. I recently had a medical concern so went to the doctor. An ultrasound revealed that a CT scan needed to be done so that was done. The CT scan revealed a lot of things amiss, two particular things are life threatening, an abdominal aortic aneurysm with 50% blockage and a large mass on my left ovary. I had a hysterectomy 30 years ago and while the ovary was not healthy they left it in and now here we are with a mass on the thing.  I have specialist appointments lined up to see what can be done about the inflamed colon, colitis and diverticulitis, and the ovarian mass.  I take my blood pressure daily and record it in a log, I take my cholesterol meds and blood pressure meds religiously. On March 4th I will see my GP again to review my blood pressure log and check my cholesterol level. If both remain high then he will treat both aggressively in the hope of lowering the chance of that aneurysm exploding and killing me within 3 minutes. My son's therapist, in an attempt to calm him, suggested he and I form a plan of action should I die.  I burst into tears. There is no plan to be made. I always thought I would live to be 100 and my son would die first. So here we are, I get $773 a month social security. I have no retirement from the work I did for over 30 years. I do work but with being so ill the hours I can work are severely reduced. My son does not get disability. We applied and he was turned down due to not having worked enough to pay into the system. I am applying on his behalf for SSI to see if maybe he can get some kind of income that way. He is on Medicaid and I am grateful for that as it covers all his medical/psychiatric/psychologist/medication expenses. He also gets $16 in food stamps each month. You read that right.....$16.00.     I hope there are peop;e out there that care enough about one old lady and her son. So I'm putting my life out there for the whole world to see. I hate having to ask for help.  For years I did whatever I had to do to put a roof over our heads and food in our stomachs, I've sold my plasma even though every single time I passed out. I have sold everything of value. I don't live a fancy life, I drive a 22 year old Toyota. I am at home with my son nearly 24/7, only leaving to go to the bank, pharmacy or Walmart to buy food. I'm hoping there are some good souls out there that will see the real need we have and want to help us.
