Michelle and Rocky Horrific Car Accident

Donation protected
On Friday December 20th around 8:15pm, Rocky & his wife Michelle were in a terrible car accident. At no fault of their own, a vehicle crossed over the yellow lines and hit them head on at excessive speed. Their 3 1/2 year old son Brock was not in the car as they were heading to see the new Star Wars movie. Both sustained critical injuries and will have a long road to recovery. Michelle needed an artery graft and numerous blood transfusions. Both legs were broken and required several intensive surgeries. Her upper foot and base of her knee were crushed, and complete fractures of her femur, tibia and fibula, and a fractured clavicle. We hope there are no further complications as she heals, and at best case her leg will always be delicate and she will need to relearn how to walk. Rocky sustained a concussion consistent with traumatic head injury and bleeding around the brain. He was mostly unresponsive for a handful of days which was very scary. He also broke all his lower vertebrae, the base of his skull, 5 ribs, and his sternum.  He is able to walk with both a back and neck brace. We shudder to think what may have happened had they not been so lucky, and are so thankful Brock still has his two loving parents to grow up with. We are are focusing on their immediate health needs at this time and are unsure exactly what the future will hold. We are optimistic, but at the same time we know they have a very, very long road to recovery and will never be the same. Though nothing can fix the past or guarantee the future, we hope to ease their burden going forward. All funds raised will go directly to Michelle and Rocky for use with medical bills and daily life expenses (which include meals, house bills,  childcare,  etc.). Those closest to them will be making the needed sacrifices, including time off work, to assist with their recovery and physical therapy, and care for their son Brock. Though we anticipate medical costs to be offset by insurance, it is reasonable to expect there may not be full coverage, as can be the case with catastrophic car accidents despite zero fault. This is difficult for me to accept - that not only was their physical fate out of their hands, but also their financial fate going forward. Rocky was working full-time and Michelle was a stay-at-home mom with a couple hours a week part-time job teaching kids to sew. They are genuinely good people with hearts of gold, great senses of humor, and very loving parents. They have been amazingly resilient in this time of crisis. If it is on your heart to donate, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support. We understand that not everyone is in a position to help financially, so please consider sharing this fundraiser instead. Please always drive responsibly. Life can change in an instant so make sure to tell those you love how much they mean to you ❤
