Michelle Mackey's medical expenses

Hi my name is Lindsay and I'm a close family friend of the Mackey family and posting this on their behalf. Please read the following:

My name is Angie and we created this Go Fund Me for my sister Michelle Mackey who is currently in the ICU in Costa Rica.

Michelle was having a dental procedure done when her blood pressure suddenly dropped and her heart stopped.

As of now we know she's suffered two strokes, one occipital and one on the left side of her brain. Although brain activity has been detected Michelle still remains unresponsive. The doctors won't know the extent of (if any) brain damage until she wakes up. In addition Michelle also has a collapsed lung and her kidneys are failing.

Currently Michelle is at a private hospital which requires payment for treatments at time of service. To date, Michelle and her boyfriend Jack have both maxed out their credit cards to make payments to the hospital of $27,500.

We have contacted the US embassy, which will help transfer Michelle to a state hospital (which is much cheaper) but unfortunately, she is not stable enough to be transferred as of yet. Therefore she is being charged every day she remains in the private hospital and is now out of funds.

Our sister Shana, who was designated as Michelle's emergency contact for this trip, is on her way to Costa Rica. A bank account in Shana and David's name has been established to receive any and all funds towards Michelle's medical care.
