Michelle Griffith was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was born December 4, 1982. She was full of life and was a happy child who loved everyone. She played basketball, volleyball, dance, and soccer as she was growing up.  Michelle attended Christ Lutheran School for grade school and junior high. While there she was involved in soccer, volleyball, and basketball. she was a good student. She went on to Norfolk  High School graduating in 2001. Where she was still involved basketball, volleyball and loving soccer the most.
Michelle attended Northeast Community College for two years, gradating in May 2003 and then going on to Wayne State College. She graduated from Wayne State in May of 2006 with a teaching degree.
Michelle got a teaching job at St. Edward School, in St. Edward Nebraska. She taught third grade starting fall of 2006. She loved teaching, as that was always her dream. Continuing her love of sports, she also was the assistant volleyball coach and the girls high school head basketball coach.
Michelle was going into her second year of teaching when she got sick with viral  meningitis and encephalitis on August 7th, 2007. She fought hard against her illnesses, but it left her with a seizure disorder and short-term memory loss. She became permanently disabled and had to give up her life-long dream of teaching and coaching.
Miraculously while surviving her her illness, Michelle gave birth to her son, Brody, on March 10, 2008. Brody was the light of her life, and she loved him with her whole heart. She lost custody of Brody because of her disability, but she loved and looked forward to every phone call and visit with him. She wanted to be a part of every aspect of Brody's life. She loved him so much that it broke your heart to know what she was going through. She got excited and loved playing games and doing activities with Brody.
Michelle always had a smirk on her face and loved in her heart. She loved when people talked to her, and included her in things. In recent years she volunteer to walk dogs at the local pet shelter in Norfolk,
Michelle passed away Friday September 21, 2018 at UNMC. She had had a seizure the previous Friday evening September 14th, 2018 and didn't wake. She was revived by the EMTs and then life-flighted to UNMC in Omaha, where she never regained consciousness.
Michelle was a light always smiling and happy. She was full of love for everyone. Michelle loved her son more than life itself, and she will be missed by all that knew her. Our hearts are forever heavy with sadness with the loss of a great daughter, mother, sister, teacher, and person.
Due to her young age and illness Michelle did not currently have life insurance. Michelle was only 24 at the time of her illness and disability, After that period she couldn't get life insurance. The funds would be used for funeral costs and for her son, Brody. The funds would be managed by Kyle and Kirk Griffith.
