Michelle Caligagan "I am not my mother campaign".

Michelle began her battle with cancer in Prescott, Wisconsin over a year and half ago.  She was advised that she had stage three rectal cancer.  With the Mayo Clinic near by Michelle began her prescribed treatment.  This would consist of a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.  Michelle and her family had battled cancer once before.  Michelle had lost her own mother to the same disease at the tender age of 49.  That was over twenty years ago and with progression of modern medicine and Michelles strong perserverance,  she and her family were optimistic.  Michelle is not her mother,  She will not let cancer her take as it took her own mother.  Unfortunately while doing the surgery for the rectum it was discovered that the cancer had moved into the liver.  Radiation and chemotherapy once again were prescribed.  With a treament plan in place Michelle began her regimen.  In December , Michelle will undergo yet  cancer  surgery on her eye.  This is a tumor she has across her optic nerve.  Because the growth of the tumor has been so slow, not much had to be done. As  luck would have it, growth has accelerated this year and her vision has not been affected.  The options are limited but saving the eye is of great importance both to Michelle and her physicians.  Mayo clinic will handle this procedure next month.
Medical bills are excessive.  The initial bill was over $250, 000. With more to follow.  Michelle has not worked for months due to the regimen prescribed and has been traveling back and forth from California due to the qualifty of personal care she receives. The travel costs along with the room and board much of what has been eased with her families assistanctill has amounted to nearly $10000. It was determined that the best course of action to combat the cancer would involve both medical procedures in both Minnesota and California.   This will continue as will the cost to get Michelle back and forth for the procedures and after care.  Achieving the goal of ten thousdand dollars would take the day to day pressure off Michelle and her family and relieve the stress of wondering how or when money would be availbable for travel an lodging.  With this out of the way Michelle could focus on recovery and spend her time with her family without financial bindings. Michell]e recenetly moved out from her place in Wisconsin and will no longer have the luxury of homecare and lodging in Minnesota/Wisconsin.  Her need for assistance in immediate and i hope you are abe to help Michelle ane her family beat her cancer once and for all.
