Michele Proietto's Cancer Battle

The close friends of Michele Proietto have chosen to reach out and ask friends, co-workers, and any other individuals in the community to help support Michele’s battle against Stage 4 Uterine Cancer at age 49. In the last 2 weeks, Michele was blindsided with the devastating news of her diagnosis after being admitted to the emergency room after experiencing severe pelvic pain. After several days in the hospital, two surgeons were able to operate simultaneously and remove multiple tumors from her pelvis and other surrounding areas where the cancer had spread. Other affected tissues/parts of her body were removed as well.
The situation is especially emotional for Michele since her mother died earlier in her life of the exact same cancer, while Michele attended her in Hospice. Getting through the tumor-removal surgery was the easy part of this process. The next steps will require Michele to undergo 6 months of chemotherapy with doctors monitoring her progress closely.
During these past 2 weeks, Michele has only been able to focus on survival. The road ahead requires much more extensive medical care with numerous doctors and continuous monitoring.
We all know someone who has been affected by this horrendous disease and how it takes an emotional toll on the patient. We all hope and pray for her full recovery. Michele’s friends and family can provide emotional support and get her to doctor appointments, but we desperately need financial help. Michele needs all her energy focused on healing rather than worrying. Being that she lives alone and is the sole income provider, the mounting medical bills and basic living expenses are overwhelming in the face of everything else.
