Micheal Kelsey's Veteran Fishing Program

Donation protected
Red Door has a commitment to honor our Armed Forces Veterans by Serving Those Who Served. With connections to the military deep in our roots, Red Door is honored to share our Veteran’s Program with the community. Each month we partner with other local businesses and organizations in an effort to find Veterans in our community who deserve to be recognized. Our way of saying thank you is by offering a House Wash or Roof Wash.

In our first month of the Veteran’s program, the community nominated many Veterans and we were blown away by the stories we heard! Micheal Kelsey was selected as the first Veteran House Wash recipient for the month of March 2022. We want to share his incredible story with you now.

Micheal served in the US Marine Corps from 2006 until 2013, stationed at Camp Lejuene and Quantico Base, Va. During his years of service, he had two deployments to Haditha, Iraq and Ramadi, Iraq. While deployed, Micheal suffered medical injuries and was later medically retired in 2013.

Micheal now lives in King George and is married to his sweetheart. They met through mutual friends in July of 2016 and tied the knot on April 24, 2021. Please join us in wishing them a Happy First Wedding Anniversary!

Micheal and his wife have 3 children: Makenzie, Madison, and Gunner. His parents, Mike and Lisa Kelsey live in his hometown of Albany, NY and his in-laws are here in the area, Kelly and Judy Carpenter. We want to recognize his family as well because Micheal has mentioned they’ve been a great support system to him over the years.

Michael now spends his time fishing and is working to create a program for other wounded veterans. His program allows him to connect with and guide other wounded veterans through his hobby of fishing. With quiet time spent together, Micheal is able to learn more about their needs, their experiences, and their life after military service. We believe he is going to be a true blessing to our local veterans and we are proud to support him!

As a surprise to Micheal, we have put together a Go Fund Me to help support his growing program for other veterans. If you would like to support Micheal and other veterans in our area through his program, please donate here to help supply fishing equipment, tackle and bait.
